Fishing in the Great Northwest

If you have yet to experience fishing in the Pacific Northwest, you should schedule a trip for the upcoming fishing season. The fishing in the Northwest is like no other.

Whether it is Washington State steelhead fishing or fishing in Alaska’s Kenai River for King, Red or Silver salmon, you will not be disappointed. Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, your fishing season will be rich with memories and, hopefully, with plenty of fish! 

The ocean off the mouth of the Columbia River offers Coho and king Chinook salmon. Fishing reports will lead you to the coast of Oregon, or to bay fishing in Tillamook Bay, or in Newport along the Yaquina River, the Nehalem River or the Siletz River near Lincoln City, or even bay fishing in Nehalem Bay.   

Charter fishing along the Pacific Northwestern Coast is also a phenomenal experience. The scenery is incredible and the salmon fishing is second to none. King Salmon reigns supreme and Coho salmon are easy to find and beautiful to watch. Silver Salmon weigh in between eight and ten pounds with some twenty pound salmon in the mix.

If you want a fishing trip along the coast, check the seasonal availability and fishing seasons, and book a reputable guide far in advance. They are in great demand in the Northwest and you don’t want your trip ruined by having to settle for something less than an expert tour.  

Ask for references and call the references to ask about their experience. Did the trip live up to their expectations? Did the guide or expert know the best areas and was the guide able to give appropriate direction and instruction to enhance the experience and ensure the best results?  

Even if you don’t bring home the biggest, most impressive specimen, you won’t be disappointed by the trip. The views in the Pacific Northwest are some of the most incredible on the North American continent and it is always great to be in the company of others who are passionate about fishing.
